The blanket I didn’t know I needed
Living and camping in Minnesota, USA, blankets are a necessity. I am pretty sure I go through them faster than I can afford them. When I was asked to review the Oceas Sherpa Waterproof Blanket, I was excited. Who wouldn’t want a new sherpa blanket, although the waterproof part I was not so sure about.
I took it camping thinking a dewy morning would be the best test. I love sitting next to a fire in the early morning wrapped in a blanket to keep the morning dew and cool away. This blanket exceeded my expectations. It kept me dry from the dampness of the chair, and just warm enough to enjoy my morning.
When I realized it also repelled dog hair and coffee spills, I was sold! I have two large dogs that each shed a cat every day. Those fibers find a way to weave themselves into any fabric. Having one side of the blanket not attract dog hair was a bonus for me.
One morning I found myself in a downpour with only the blanket to help me get across the campground. I threw the blanket over my head and ran. I stayed dry!
This blanket now comes with me at all times. It has proven its warmth and waterproof ability. My niece appreciated the softness of the sherpa as she napped on her trampoline. It took a bit of abuse while she jumped on the trampoline as well.
Who is Oceas?

The sherpa blanket is made with 300 gsm sherpa to create durability and warmth. The waterproof side is made of ripstop polyester with a polyurethane coating. The two sides of the blanket are ultrasonically stitched increasing the waterproof ability.

The rolled-up size might be a little big if you are hiking to a campsite, but it would provide comfort either under your sleeping bag, in the cool mornings, or when resting after a hike. I have received comments on how noisy the blanket was on the waterproofing side. While using it by the campfire others commented on how loud the blanket was as I shifted it around me. If you are sensitive to noise it may not be a blanket you would sleep with. I did sleep with it one night and it did not disturb me.

The water proof Sherpa Blanket is an excellent choice for camping all over Alaska. With the wide range of weather conditions that occurs from the Southeast rainy region to the Arctic circle this blanket is very versatile and convenient as well as keeping dry and warm. There are several organizations in Alaska that have training for women on the joy and the positive aspects of camping for women. These organizations trainers are all women and they are really fantastic in not just camping but survival in case one gets stuck in an expected situation and has to make it through the event, whether it be weather or breakdown of equipment. Waterproof blankets with kids is always a win. This looks like a great product for travel in general.
I miss camping, I miss the outdoors.. I’m dreaming of that day i can bring my daughter to a real camp out in the woods or by the beach.. where we can put up our own tent and make smores.. loving the thought of it! This looks like such a wonderful product to take camping.

I need to buy this blanket for myself. I went camping for the first time in July and it was absolutely cold the first day. I didn’t realize it’d be that freezing since it was so hot during the day. This blanket would have came in handy for sure.

That sounds like a really helpful blanket. As non-campers, we usually don’t need quite that much of a blanket. However, given the horrors of the winter storm this past February here in Texas, we might need some blankets like this!
I could not imagine what you went through! They have a variety of blankets, the pocket blanket, a fleece, and then the sherpa. I have used mine for picnics, a wedding (they had a little tent for the kids outside, so I put my blanket in the tent and rested with the kids!), and an outdoor concert. I am hoping that you will not need emergency blankets again!
