Emergency Poo Bags Review

Poo Bags: Remove the Taboo from needing a poo.

By Samantha Kent

It’s an age-old saying “Does a bear s**t in the woods?” but the thing is sometimes it’s not just bears… Sometimes it’s not even the woods! As a children’s book so eloquently puts it “Everybody poops”. One thing the old saying nor the children’s book cover explains is… What to do, when you need to poo…. Yet there is no loo!

This is where the emergency poo bags come in!

The first thing I want to talk about with these bags is how funny they are. The art by Jenny Dack from Overt Design is funny and definitely a good talking point for anyone who may come across them. My favourite has to be the one with the bear captioned, “What would a Bear do?” My next favourite is “Don’t Lose your Sh!t”  But the other two designs are pretty fun too, “Go on the go!”, and, “Bog in a Bag,” (they may also possibly be a little more friendly to anyone who might be easily offended by such.)

Take a look at the poo bags in this first video:

One of the other benefits of these bags that I have found most useful is for animal waste. At the time of writing, I have 1 scoop and 1 bag sample left because I have a lot of animals. Which means I have a lot of poop to deal with. But it’s not only been useful with their poop it’s been pretty handy for fishing out bits of vegetables they haven’t eaten that also need to be thrown away. I actually used this as the basis of a little experiment. I filled a bag with half eaten carrot, cress stalks, lizard and snail poop and threw the entire bag in my compost bin to monitor how long it would take to decompose.

I had spoken with the Manufacturer who approximated it may take 3-6 months to biodegrade but after a month this was how my bag looked:

Men taking this medicine reported about their ED wait on average 17 months before going viagra shop uk for any treatment. An additional click description levitra generika probe issue is that the majority of On the web Pharmacy. Capsules like free sample levitra can support a man get over mental dilemma and render him assurance that all things are going smoothly. After all, all the generic drugs do the same in sildenafil uk buy curing the particular disease.

Now if you’re eagle-eyed you will notice: That’s not a bag, and that’s not my compost bin! That’s because when I dug around to try to find any remains of the bag they were completely mulched! At around the 2 weeks mark, it had broken down into 1 inch or less chunks then at around 4 weeks no trace could be found! Now the environmental factors of my compost bin are a little unfair, I have earthworms in there it’s warm and contributes to a quick decomposition process however when laid besides compost bin bags these emergency poo bags broke down in no time whereas the compostable bags I buy just for compost take 3-4 months.

You can see more of the composting effect via the second video:

All in all, it’s a very simple idea. The manufacturer had said she had been inspired after watching a program about lorry drivers having to poo on the roadside when there were no toilets around but the uses of the product go much further. They could be used for parents in cars, pet owners, camping, hiking, or even if you were potty-training, I’d assume these could come in useful. They are apparently recyclable but I think I’d rather dispose of them in a hole or bin since the bag itself seems so easily broken down. The fact that they are paper bags means they can be kept so easily at hand, they can be folded up in bags, kept in glove compartments of cars and the scoops are just as easy to store!

So, let’s remove the taboo from needing a poo. A subject everyone is afraid to talk about but a subject we all need to be aware of. Even if your conversation is started by passing out one of the humorous bags to your friends to have a giggle at, I think it’s time we remember.

Everybody poos!

I had been reading a lot about environmental paperbags. I recently came across paper poo bags, I like that these bags are made of 100% biodegradable cornstarch. They feel like plastic, but they’re not plastic. They’re SO much better for the environment than polyethylene plastic bags. And I really liked that you reviewed it.

That’s amazing how quickly the bag broke down. Even with your compost friendly environment. I’ll have to look these up. I handle a fair amount of poop also with a dog, cat and almost 2 year old.

Outside of emergency situations, these could be helpful for dogs. I know we use a lot of plastic bags.

I don’t have a dog (One of the only animals I have never had!) but I can see these being super useful for dog owners. There’s more room than regular bags so less chance of touching poop.

That’s pretty amazing that it composted that quickly in your bin. I had no idea these existed, but they seem much more eco friendly than the plastic bags!

I was really shocked with how quick it decomposed. I had to go digging through the bin to see if it had fallen down or something. Even the company underestimated how quick it would go.

I had never thought of an emergency bag. but it makes total sense if you’re out in the middle of nowhere. with COVID and public bathrooms closed, I have heard of people leaving their messes in the lakes and parks. gross.

I always had a little roll of the plastic dog poo bags in my Jeep. This has made me wonder if there are little bags for dog poo? I don’t really need as big as in the pic but they are a clever idea! We have a little dog – she’s a lhasa apso! Great post!
