Embrace the Outdoors in Jodhpur India

By Anahita Irani

Who doesn’t like a little bit of sun and adrenal rush on their holiday? Especially if you are an outdoor person who loves adventure sports. My recent trip to Jodhpur India – The Blue City had been an exciting one. Moreover, because Jodhpur has plenty of outdoor activities to offer in addition to the exceptional winter climate. My excursion just got even more exciting and filled with heart pacing, breathtaking and most amazing activities.

Jodhpur, Rajasthan’s second-largest city, is considered to be the ‘Sun City’ all due to its warm and sunny climate throughout the year. It casts a mystical glow on a city that embodies a stunning amalgamation of history, culture, and tradition. It seems to be a chapter in history that is animated and full of colour. We planned to visit the many magnificent palaces and forts in the city but with a difference and you will see what I mean.

Jodhpur India is a perfect winter getaway for a family vacation since it not only offers traditional sightseeing tours but also several adventure activities. In fact, it may be difficult to cover all of them in one trip. So here’s a list of top activities to do in Jodhpur that you shouldn’t miss on your next trip.

Ziplining at Jodhpur IndiaZiplining at Mehrangarh Fort – Jodhpur

This activity can be organized by Flying Fox and can be booked online beforehand. There are six zip lines welcoming you at Mehrangarh Fort. This activity is actually two experiences in one: the thrill and adventure of ziplining and a splendid view. The entire circuit takes about 90 minutes to complete and is built to international safety standards. Safe, fun and excellent views of the Blue city and fort.

Where: Mehrangarh Fort

Cost: Rs 1500

Timings: 9 AM to 5 PM

Paragliding Near Mehrangarh – Jodhpur IndiaParagliding Near Mehrangarh – Jodhpur

Paragliding is the best adventurous thing to do in Jodhpur. It gives you a splendid view of the Blue City from above. The Paragliding unique experience is best done with the expert team of Sky Ventures. You get the feeling of flying freely like a bird and the view of the Mehrangarh Fort from above.

Where: Mehrangarh Fort

Cost: Rs 3000

Timings: 8 AM to 6 PM

Desert safari at Osian – Jodhpur IndiaDesert safari at Osian – Jodhpur India

You need to go in the latter half of the day for this activity. Take a drive through the golden sands of the Thar Desert in an open jeep. It is exciting to feel the dessert sand in your hair and face. We enjoyed the steep downhill ride through the sand dunes. Also spotted wild boars and deer in a distance. The red blazing sun as it set was one of my most memorable ones. The Osian safari village is a small resort with tents which can be hired. The tents are comfortable and spacious. Interiors are tastefully designed employing rural artisans in handicrafts and printing. These tents are luxury Swiss Cottages, with en-suite toilets. They offer traditional folk songs and dances after sunset.

Where: Osian

Cost: Rs 5000

Timings: 24 hours

Cycle Ride Through Jodhpur City

My recent trip to Jodhpur India made me realize that we need to travel when we are young. Travel to experience the beautiful outdoors and what Nature has to offer in that location. I have done plenty of other touristy things in Jodhpur which you can read more on my website Sweetannu.com

We are sorry we did not get to Jodhpur when we were in India. Any place that has a warm and sunny climate all year would be perfect for us. Zip lines sound like a fun way to see some of the sights. And we would love to do a desert safari through the golden sands. I am sure the sunset view is one we would remember forever.

This is a delight to read, especially since I did manage to see most of it. The ziplining is so much fun and a great way to scale the palace heights. Cycling through the city is a must do, especially in the smaller lanes of the old city. I only managed to see a small part of the Jodha Rao desert. But I hear, it is extremely rich with some of those desert birds especially vultures.

I’m loving this. I’d anyday prefer Jodhpur over Jaipur and I’m happy to know these outdoor options in the city. I really wouldn’t miss ziplining and paragliding in Mehrangarh fort. Glamping in Osian would be super cool with the desert safari, wildlife spotting and cultural performances. I really need to plan my trip to Rajasthan!

I was in Jodhpur 12 years ago, so your post brought back beautiful memories. This is one of the most beautiful cities in India I have ever seen. But when I was in it, there were not so many activities like Ziplining, Paragliding, or even Cycle Ride. I think it is a perfect idea to experience these outdoor activities. I would love to go back to the Blue City and try them.

Jodhpur apart from the blue city is also known for its adventure activities . I would love to do a ziplining and paragliding out there . Also cycling through the streets for relising the local street is the best way to cherish the city.

This is so cool! I had been to Jodhpur ten years back and then there were no zip-lining or paragliding option in the city. So glad to see these awesome outdoor options available in this beautiful historical city! I still remember the desert safari experience I had over there, one of the best I have had till date due to the local music. Can only imagine how interesting the other options you have mentioned would be 😀 Can’t wait to visit the city again now!

I haven’t been to India before but it does seem lovely with amazing fun activites. I think it takes a lot of balls to go ziplining or paragliding. Just what if… what if the rope gives way?

Jodhpur has indeed been one of the best cities where i stayed. I still remember how we used to go on late night drives towards the Umaid Bhawan Palace, and how Mehrangarh Fort was the go to place, whenever any relative turned up at our homes. I would have loved to experience the Zip Lining and Para Gliding, but when i was there, these werent in operation. Looks like I might need to take a trip to Jodhpur again.

There seem to be quite a few exciting things to do in Jodhpur if you are an adrenaline junkie. I’ll have to confess that I wouldn’t enjoy doing some of these things, like paragliding or zip lining. However, I’d love to do a safari to see some boars and the deer. I would also enjoy hiking in the Jodha Desert Rock Park.

These all look absolutely amazing! I don’t know where I would start, but the paragliding looks like a lot of fun! I have always wanted to do that. The Osian safari village and safari ride sounds great to. I would love to stay in one of those tents and seeing the wild boars and deer would be a highlight for me. When I get the chance to visit India I will definitely be adding Jodhpur to the itinerary.

Those are some amazing views! I love zip lining and can’t wait to do it again. My last zip lining adventure was in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. If I’m ever in India, I’ll check these places out.
