Ultimate camping essentials when pregnant

At first glance, camping during pregnancy seems impossible. But if you take precautionary steps and the necessary accessories, you will find it enjoyable. Let us discuss the ultimate camping essentials when pregnant.

Here I have enlisted the camping essentials into five categories. Let’s check them out.

Personal accessories

  • Brush

The brush is an essential accessory that everybody needs. It is small stuff so most of the time we can forget to take it.

  • Epilator

When heading out for an extended period, you mightn’t get enough time to remove your body’s hair. But a person should give first priority to being neat and clean. The epilator is an electronic device that cleans the multiple hairs at a minimum time with no pain. So, don’t forget to keep an epilator in your bag.

  • Towels

Many of us are not comfortable in using anyone else’s towel. Besides, a pregnant woman always has to be cautious about her stuff. So, it is better if you carry a separate towel in the travel bag.

  • Comb

The comb is a regular essential of women. You mightn’t imagine going anywhere without it especially when you are a woman. Indeed, it is an important accessory. So, when you are out of home, you should carry a comb in your bag.

Compulsory stuff

  • Pocket knife

Did you ever go camping before? Then you must know the importance of having a pocket knife. You’ll need a pocket knife for small to big to handle many tasks. Carrying a multi-blade pocket knife will be most efficient for your whole camping time.

  • Tent/ Sleeping bag

Sleeping in a tent or sleeping bag is one of the main attractions of the camping. You cannot imagine camping without a sleeping bag or tent. So, don’t forget to take these in your travel bag.

  • Rope

To hang the tent, you simply need a strong rope. Also, you need a rope for walking on the perpendicular place as you are pregnant. Overall, you can’t ignore the importance of carrying a rope.

  • Ground cloth

When using a sleeping bag or tent, you must use cloth at the ground. It will protect you from insects. Moreover, it will enhance comfortability while sleeping.

  • Fire starter/ lighter

Many of us compulsorily keep a lighter in the bag, especially when a person is a smoker. During the camping time, you have to make fire at night to protect yourself from any wild animals. To do this, you must have a fire starter/ lighter.

  • Mosquito Repeller

Wherever you stay for camping, you might have to face the mosquito problem. The wild mosquito is harmful both for you and your baby. So, don’t forget to carry a mosquito repeller.

  • A storage bag

Finally, you must have a storage bag to carry all your stuff. During camping time, you might have to go through different adverse weather. So, the storing bag has to be durable, long-lasting and waterproof.

Kitchen supplies

  • Water bottle

A water bottle is an essential material among all the kitchen supplies. Whether you go for a camp or regular outing, you must keep a water bottle with you.

  • Dry food

Getting cooked food at camping is often difficult. Sometimes you mightn’t get fresh food also. In such a situation, dry food becomes the only way of living. So, take dry food with you as much as you can.

  • BBQ grill

Camping remains incomplete, without a BBQ party. You must do a BBQ while camping. For doing a BBQ party, you have to bring a BBQ grill.

Comfortable accessories

  • A neck pillow and blanket

A neck pillow and blanket gives comfort to a person during the whole journey. If you camp in a warm place, the blanket may be an optional thing for you. But the neck pillow is the most crucial thing for a good night’s sleep.

  • Book and Headphone

To pass the leisure time in camp, you must have a companion. A book and headphone can be your best companion when you are receiving the beauty of nature.

Medical kits

  • Personal medicine

Having medicine is common during pregnancy time. You shouldn’t avoid your medicine even if you are out of home. Carry your medications and have them with you at all times.

  • A medical box

You might get injured while travelling in and around nature. You might get a wound from the bite of an insect or falling branch. So, you need to take precautions prior to getting any injury.

To avoid such types of a minor accident, you should carry a medical box. It must include all the necessary accessories needed for first aid treatment. Content should include things such as antiseptic, cotton, role bandage, adhesive tape, and so on.

Some Essential Tips

  • Drink more than sufficient water when camping. It will keep you from suffering dehydration.
  • Use air mattress instead of sleeping at the ground. It will keep you free from back pain.
  • The bathroom is a common problem for pregnant women. Therefore, do your camping where there are available amenities.
  • Don’t forget to take your meals and medicine on time. Avoid unhygienic and half-boiled/cooked food. Instead, eat fresh fruits and dry food when camping.
  • Carry a portable rocking chair. Indeed, it will play an important role in reducing back pain.
  • Do some morning walks and a little exercise to get relief from leg cramps.
  • Avoid steep hills when camping to avoid an unexpected accident.

Without consumption of the beauty of nature, life becomes worthless. Many of us cannot help but to continually discover our wonderful and mysterious nature even during our pregnancy time.

Everything becomes a little more tricky when you are pregnant, but that is no reason not to do it! Great tips, its important to take proper care of yourself when exploring the outdoors and even more so when pregnant. Love the tip about bringing an air mattress with you, I would imagine sleeping on the ground while pregnant would be quite uncomfortable.

Sounds like a great thing to do while pregnant, it’s not a type of travel I thought of in relation to pregnant women but no reason not to. I’m not sure I agree about an epilator being a key personal accessory, because I don’t think being hairless is a factor of cleanliness or hygiene. Society had made it an expected symbol of feminism but I think it’s personal choice, and no one who doesn’t shave or epilate should be considered unclean.

I remember the first time I slept outside, I was a child and some family friends came to town. There was a meteor shower and so our parents had us all sleep outside on our porch so we could fall asleep watching the shower. It was awesome!

Sleeping out and waking up to the songs of nature is an experience that is pure bliss. Camping affords the opportunity to experience this. If you are pregnant, it does not mean you cannot experience this, only one needs to take proper care and all necessary precautions and make sure you have all the stuff that would be needed. Your post provides a ready-reckoner for this purpose.

I have never thought of using a neck pillow when camping. I bet it is comfortable and does not take up much room. I imagine an air mattress would be essential if camping while pregnant

  • June 5, 2020 at 5:29 pm

I can certainly imagine that camping when pregnant would introduce some new considerations. I developed a “baby bladder” very early in my pregnancy. So bathroom essentials were an important consideration. We looked at some portable options for emergency situations. I love the idea of a portable rocking chair. Certainly back pain was a common occurrence. I never left home without my hot water bottle in the second half of my pregnancy. I think if you prepare well, you can keep doing most things while pregnant as long as you are able.
