Trekroll- A Bed On The Go

Trekroll Outside

Sara Baird tries out the Trekroll.

No matter how enjoyable your travels are, a poor night of sleep can impact how you feel and what you are able to do. I have spent my fair share of nights where I found the ground was too rocky, my sleeping gear was too warm, or worse, not warm enough.  I know how much a great night of sleep can make a difference.  The first night I camped with an inflatable sleeping mat I realized how incredible a night of camping could be with a little extra comfort.  When read more

The Roar Baby Monitor: Extraordinary for the Outdoors

Roar Baby Monitor tested by Sara Baird outdoors.

By Sara Baird.

Camping with young kids can be nerve-wracking.  While at home you will have a way to hear and often see your child when they are alone in their room. Parents often don’t have access to the same technology you have at home while away so your choices often become going to bed when your child goes to bed or leaving your child alone and hoping that you can hear him or her if they wake up.

The Roar Baby Monitor seeks to solve this issue by creating a compact and rugged baby monitor read more

Wakiwaki Filtered Water Bottle Review

The Wakiwaki Filtered Water Bottle 20 oz bottle comes with a carabiner for easy carrying.

By Sara Baird.

I took my first wilderness trip when I was 12.  It was a weeklong trip into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern Minnesota with an environmental school.  I will always be grateful that I had the opportunity to take this trip as it changes the way I see the world.  I have memories of great friendships, sleeping under the stars during a meteor shower, and a sense of awe the entire week. The only thing I remember not enjoying on the trip was the taste of iodine in our water.

The Quality Hammock Rain Fly 12’ Hexagonal Tarp

The rain fly comes with stakes and guyline to set it up as well as bags to keep it organized.

Onewind’s Rain Fly is tested out by Sara Baird.

Last year I had the opportunity to review three great Onewind products.  The 11ft hammock with mosquito netting, the hammock underquilt and blanket, and the hammock top quilt.  I was impressed with the function and design of all of these products so said yes when asked to review another product.  They were all designed in ways that made them extremely easy to use and I use them frequently.

This fall I had the opportunity to try out the Onewind read more

Blissful Utama Spice in the Outdoors

Utama Spice Candle

Essential oils and lotions are not always at the top of my mind when I’m packing for a camping trip but they should be because they can add to our enjoyment of our trip.    My husband is more likely to remind me to bring them along, he loves to use them to relax at night, reenergize on a long travel day, or get him through a stinky dump station experience with our RV.

I find that using oils can help me shift my mindset when I’m trying to perform tasks that I’m struggling to read more

Wearable Blanket Review from Three Poodle

Wearable Blanket from Three Poodle

By Sara Baird.

Who doesn’t love a good blanket?  I can not imagine many things that are as comforting as a cozy blanket on a cold evening or morning.  One of my favorite things about camping is that the evenings and mornings can often be quite chilly.  The only thing better than a cozy blanket is a wearable blanket that you can stay wrapped up in while doing more than holding on to the blanket so I was thrilled when I was asked to try out and review a Three Poodle wearable blanket.

Kuhl Travel Pants Review

Kuhl Travel Pants

Sara Baird tries out Kuhl Travel Pants

I live in outdoor pants.  I found some that pass for work and I have them in several different colors so I can wear them daily to my high school teaching job.  I also wear them on weekends and vacations well, pretty much everywhere I go.  I love how they fit, that they allow you to move, and of course that they actually have working pockets.  It is also handy that the fabrics will dry quickly if you get wet or work up a sweat.   When Kuhl asked if I read more

The Gamma Graphene Heated Jacket – The All Purpose Jacket

Gamma Graphene Heated Jacket

By Sara Baird

Living in Minnesota in the spring is always an adventure.  Over the course of a week, it is not strange to experience snow, rain, and storms, with temperatures ranging from freezing to hot.  It can be hard to know how to dress each day and it’s even harder to know what to pack when traveling.  I was excited to have an opportunity to try out the Gamma Heated Jacket from Wear Graphene this spring to see if it would stand up to this weather.
