While I have been to Nordic countries, I never got a chance to sleep in an Igloo. Also, I loved the Afghani yurt. It looks so cool and the option to have both electricity and candles is a major plus for me.

Have never stayed in an igloo. And that is what I would be gunning for. The spherical bliss too seems interesting. A very nice collection of unusual stays.

I love those yurts and the tree houses. Never stayed in any of the ones that you have spoken about so I am quite excited to see this list of yours. Yurts are my favorite. I was in Bavaria recently but wasn’t aware of any yurt there. Next time for sure!

Wow – I love all of these recommendations! As I read through them I kept thinking each one was my favorite and then I would reach the next on the list and change my mind again. The glass domes in Finland completely won me over though. To be able to see the Northern Lights from our bed would be magical. Thanks! Pinning for later!

You’ve given great recommendations! I think my top choice would be the beautiful yurt in Germany. It looks stunning, and I love how affordable it is. I have looked into the treehouse in Oregon before, and it hasn’t been on my bucket list. Those glass-domed igloos in Finland also caught my eye. So many options to choose from around the world! Great post! Saving for later!

I am torn between the glass igloos and round tree houses. Both look so unique but also representative of the environment the come from. I think SAARISELKÄ, FINLAND igloos would be the winner for me because I would watch northern lights from my bed. That would be amazing.

What a great collection of unusual accommodation choices and places to visit. I love the look of Yurts but would definitely want to find an option with a private bathroom attached, as most I’ve seen have shared bathrooms across a field somewhere. The igloos have a similar issue for me, but wow what an experience. I’ve stayed at the ice hotel in Sweden, so perhaps a somewhat related experience. The glass domed igloos at Saariselka have been on my list for a while, I love the look of those! And who doesn’t love treehouses, a nod back to our childhood dreams!

You got some amazing suggestions here! I’ll be staying in an igloo this new year and can’t wait! That Glass-Domed Igloo looks magical too, especially when the northern lights are around. And seems like that Spherical Bliss indeed took the idea of a treehouse to new heights.

Love this so much! I stayed in a yurt when I was in Mongolia and feel in love with it. So glad to see Yurts taking off around the world as a viable accommodation option. Though in all honesty I’d love to stay in the Spherical Bliss. Ah well a trip to Canada is needed.

I would love to stay in a tree house. That would be really cool. I love being outdoors and surrounded by nature so the adventure of zip lining etc would really suit me.
I love places which are slightly different.

#1 is my kind of “outdoor” living 🙂 I am such a city girl and attempting anything outdoor-sie is not an option in my life. I just won’t do it, its not for me; however, #1 wow…I think you may have sold me. It’s beautiful and the price is amazing. #5, is something I have seen all over the net. Northern Lights is on my bucket list but we always imagine Iceland and everything that Iceland has to offer…but you are right, why not head to Finland. So many opportunities awaits us, I just hope I have the chance to do them. Thank you
